Where I Stand on Social Justice, Human Rights, and Issues that Impact Our Planet

As a business owner and voice within the online community, it is my commitment to make it clear to you where I stand and most importantly what the mission of this business stands FOR as well as what I condone.

The following serves as a values statement for myself, Sarah Steckler, The Mindful Productivity Podcast, and all of the courses, content, planners, products, and services I personally create, sell, and market.

Where I Stand

  • I stand in solidarity and for racial justice for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) and am committed to being an inclusive, anti-racist organization.

  • I stand for LGBTQ+ Equality.

  • I stand for environmental justice.

  • We need to demand justice by prosecuting the killers of Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, Atatianna Jefferson, Freddie Gray, Aura Rosser, Eric Garner, Stephon Clark, Botham Jean, Philando Castille, Alton Sterling, Tamir Rice, Janisha Fonville, Patrick Warren, Daunte Wright, and countless others.

  • I stand with the Asian community and believe we all need to do our part to #STOPASIANHATE and call out xenophobia & racism when and where we see it.

  • I value neurodiversity & recognize the differences in how we all learn, communicate, and function as humans.

  • I value science, peer-reviewed research, critical thinking, and personal discernment, and do not believe any individual (myself included) should ever be looked at as the ultimate source or end goal for any niche of information. We must humbly acknowledge that humans are flawed and therefore be aware that everyone has room for growth, change, and constructive criticism with their values and ethics.

  • I value vaccines and Community Care and am now fully vaccinated with Moderna.

I do not support Donald Trump, Qanon, spiritual bypassing, or any conspiracy theories that have led to the dangerous spread of misinformation and the riots that occurred at the United States Capitol.

I continue to do sustainable work to address my own whiteness, cognitive dissonance, internal biases, other problematic views, mindsets, and unknown complicit biases from both a place of awareness and action. Including personally, professionally, publically, and internally. I do not consider or view myself as "better" than others who are on this journey. I am where I am and I continue to move forward, encouraging others to do the same.

HOW I AM COMMITTED TO ANTI-RACISM WORK

  • I am committed to weekly readings and discussions around anti-racism as well as learning more about the history of how our society was built on racist beliefs and rooted in systemic whitness.

  • I am committed to lean into discomfort to have conversations with others and challenge my own world views

  • I am committed to building awareness and educating myself on where I have benefited from my white privilege and how I can do better

  • I am committed to diversifying my business spending, investments and consumption

  • I am committed to amplifying Black voices and sharing social justice issues on my platform sustainably and consistently (Episode 117)

  • I am committed to investigating where companies and brands stand that I purchase goods or services from and find alternatives for those that are not committed to doing the anti-racism work.

  • I am committed to ongoing conversations with other business owners on how to do better and acknowledge, call out, and challenge complicit internal biases rooted in whiteness.
